車床本身就是一個制造機器的設備，所以說他能夠制造機床本身所有的機器，當然他也可以利用一系列的機械加工方法來滿足不同的制造。所謂的機械加工就是把整個金屬的毛零件加工形成一種所需的形狀，在這里面包含整個尺寸的精度，包括幾何的精度。能夠完成這種功能的設備基本上都稱為世界床，那么數控車床本身就是在機床的發(fā)展過程當中發(fā)展過來的，數控車床的精度以及效率要求相對較高。數控車床相對于一般的機床也就是多了數字控制，他們之間究竟有什么樣的區(qū)別呢？數控車床簡單的來講也就是用數字來控制的機床，這是一種帶有程序自動化控制的自動化機床，整個系統(tǒng)能夠很邏輯的來處理控制編碼或者是其他符號指令所規(guī)定的程序，然后把他們進行自動編譯，再把他們進行全面的編譯，讓整個機床的動作能夠按照原本的程序進行加工，這種數控車床的控制單元的數控車床的操作和監(jiān)控全部都是在數控單元當中完成的，他就相當于一個設備的大腦一樣。我們平常所說的這種設備主要就是指數控車床的加工中心。
其實數控車床的技術和車床本身就是有著一定的聯(lián)系，數控車床簡單的意義來說也就是機床在加工過程當中的數字化的控制系統(tǒng)，當然，數控車床并不單單只有一個數控系統(tǒng)，他也有很多不同的技術，完全是利用一些不同的技術，來家工程隊為先進的設備的，他包含的范圍較為廣泛，包括數控車床，數控銑床，數控加工中心，還有數控線的切割等多種不同的類型。這樣的一種技術就是用數字化的程序語言符號進行轉化，然后對整個計算機控制的機床進行加工。
